Camp opens at 3pm on Friday, July 28 - The Ashokan Center can not entertain any early check-ins or late check-outs.
Make sure to fill out the NYAC Registration sheet prior to arrival. This will detail any dietary restrictions and needs you might have in general for the facility.
Friday we expect to have people gradually arrive throughout the evening. Dinner will be from 6-7 pm, followed by a welcome and toast & cider share.
Arriving Early?
Tour of Historic Sites To include: Driving Tour/Caravan of the Birthplace of American Horticulture. Stops include Andrew Jackson Downing’s Former Nursery, Memorial Park and Gravesite. Visit to the Klyne Esopus Museum with a discussion to be held by their historian Louis Tiemperio. Discussion of Spitzenburg apples and tasting of Spitzenburg Ciders. Event includes Lunch at Drumlin Farm hosted by Elizabeth Ryan and Ted McNight. Register here.
10AM – Assemble at Milton Historical Train Station for Coffee
1:30PM – Depart Drumlin Farm. Caravan in participants vehicles to Esopus home of the Esopus Spitzenburg Apple
2PM - Visit Klyne Esopus Museum with historian Louis Tiemperio

Camping:
You will need to bring your own tent, bedding and any other equipment or gear. Camping vehicles are welcome if you’re ok with no hookups (and no generators after dark). All camping will happen near Binnie's bathhouse, where you’ll have access to bathrooms and outdoor showers.
Cabins & Group Bunkhouse:
You must bring your own twin size linens or sleeping bag, a pillowcase, a light blanket, towels and toiletries. Pillows are provided.
Things to Do:
There are seasonal activities available at Ashokan Center at all times:
Canoeing, Croquet, Badminton, Beanbag Toss, Fishing, Hiking Forest and Streamside Trails

Cider Share:
Both Friday & Saturday evenings everyone will be welcome to come to a "cider share" around 8pm to taste ciders other campers have brought to camp and to share whatever you shepherded with you to the Hudson Valley. The ciders you bring can be anything, and you do not need to bring enough for everyone. The cider share is a designed to be a social gathering with cider serving as a conversation-starter among campers--not an organized tasting. We hope you decide to attend and perhaps bring something to share!
